Make your own Matcha Bath Bomb - sorate

Make your own Matcha Bath Bomb

November 12, 2022

Matcha Bath Bomb

As colder weather sets in, your skin can become dull, dry, and itchy. Studies show that cool air has harsh effects on our skin and it’s vital to protect your skin from these conditions.
Lotions, oils, and moisturizers are all important parts of winter skin protection. This season, consider adding Matcha to your line up. With anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, Matcha can help your skin look clear and nourished, even when temperatures drop.
One easy way to enjoy the benefits of Matcha for skin is a homemade Matcha bath bomb. With a few simple ingredients, you can avoid the drying effects of a hot bath and instead, enjoy all of the relaxing elements of a warm soak while ensuring that your skin stays healthy and moisturized.

MATCHA BATH BOMB

Time: 30 mins + drying

ACCESSORIES, YOU'LL NEED:

  1. Muffin tin or circular mold
  2. Large mixing bowl
  3. Whisk

INGREDIENTS

  1. ¼ cup Matcha
  2. 3 tsp olive oil
  3. 10 drops lavender essential oil
  4. 1 cup baking soda
  5. ½ cup citric acid
  6. ½ cup unscented epsom salt
  7. ½ cup organic cornstarch

PREPARATION

Combine dry ingredients in your large mixing bowl and whisk together until well combined.
Add wet ingredients one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Once the mix is ready, scoop equal amounts into your mold of choice (each bomb should be about ⅓ of a cup of the mixture).  Set your molds to cure overnight in an airtight container.
Draw a warm bath and let your Matcha Bath Bomb dissolve into the water.
Be sure to give your tub a good rinse after draining to prevent any build up.
Enjoy!

Spirulina Matcha Latte - sorate

Spirulina Matcha Latte

November 03, 2022

What is Spirulina?

Spirulina is a nutrient-packed organism that grows in either fresh or saltwater. It provides as much protein as an egg and is loaded with a ton of antioxidants and essential amino acids. Studies have shown that it reduces the risk of allergies, high blood pressure, cancer, anemia, and can even improve gut health, boost energy, and your mood.

Matcha Benefits?

Matcha has so many healing benefits. It helps promote periodontal health by reducing inflammation, preventing bone resorption, and limiting the growth of certain bacteria associated with periodontal diseases.
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Calories: 20

INGREDIENTS (1 serving)

  • 3/4 cup cold unsweetened Oat milk
  • 1/4 tsp blue Spirulina powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water, not boiling
  • 1/2 tsp matcha green tea powder (we used Kusui - Ceremonial Grade - Matcha Super Premum)
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)

    RECIPE

    1. Combine the cold milk with blue Spirulina powder until dissolved
    2. Whisk together the matcha and hot water until dissolved
    3. Add the blue Spirulina milk to glass with ice
    4. Add a splash of uncolored milk
    5. Top with the hot matcha
    6. Sweeten to taste with maple syrup or honey

2 more reasons why you should swap coffee for Matcha:

        1. Coffee interferes with GABA, (nature’s Valium) which promotes feelings of calm and happiness.
        2. Coffee can cause hormone imbalances and spikes in both adrenaline and cortisol which can lead to feelings of anxiety, negative thoughts and can give you the jitters.

        Matcha Pumpkin Bread - sorate

        Matcha Pumpkin Bread

        October 24, 2022

Pumpkin bread is the perfect fall treat for breakfast or an on-the-go snack. It's rich, spiced flavor is elevated by the earthy notes of Matcha.
The spice blend of cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon or "pumpkin spice" is a traditional spice mix used in pastry and baking for centuries.
It's a cozy and inviting combination that evokes memories of family gatherings and pumpkin patches and apple picking.
The key to a good pumpkin bread is moisture and a balance of sweetness.
Unlike a traditional pumpkin bread, Matcha pumpkin bread highlights the natural sweetness of the pumpkin and enhances the cinnamon and ginger notes in the pumpkin spice.
If you're looking to enhance your pumpkin bread with nutrients and antioxidants, Matcha is the perfect addition.

          Gluten Free Matcha Cake

          September 25, 2022

          Time: 40 Minutes
          Calories: 250 per serving

          INGREDIENTS:

          • 1 ½ tablespoons Matcha Powder
          • ½ cup of Olive Oil
          • ½ cup Whole Milk
          • 2 tablespoons Poppy Seeds
          • 2 large Eggs
          • 1½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
          • 1¼ cup + 2 tablespoons (166g) superfine blanched Almond Flour
          • ½ cup + 3 tablespoons (83g) Gluten-Free Oat Flour
          • ¾ cup + 1 tablespoon (168g) granulated Sugar
          • 1½ teaspoons Baking Powder
          • ½ teaspoon Kosher Salt

          PREPARATION

          1. In a glass measuring cup, whisk together olive oil, milk, and poppy seeds and let sit for 5 minutes while you prepare the baking pan.
          2. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8-inch cake pan with olive oil and line the bottom with a round of parchment paper.
          3. Whisk the eggs and vanilla extract into the liquid ingredients.
          4. In a large bowl, whisk together the almond flour, oat flour, sugar, matcha, baking powder, and salt. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well until just combined. Pour the batter into the pan and use a spatula to smooth the top.
          5. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the cake springs back when poked and a toothpick in the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert the cake onto a wire baking rack then flip right side up to cool. I use two wire racks to invert the cake right side up.
          6. Use a fine mesh sieve to dust the cake with powdered sugar.
          7. Serve slices warm or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of olive oil (optional). The cake can sit out in an airtight container for 3-5 days or freezer for up to a month.

          TIPS:

          • Avoid over beating the egg whites as it will result in a lumpy cake with too many air bubbles. When lifting your whisk, you want the tip of the peak to fall slightly. Over beaten egg whites will look grainy and lumpy.
          • Mix the egg yolk mixture on high speed. It's ready when it forms a ribbon trail that lasts three to four seconds when dropped from the whisk.
          • When adding the oliver oil, mix in a little bit of the batter first. This helps incorporate the oil without deflating the batter.
          • Make sure to sift the matcha powder and cake powder. Matcha powder is hard to dissolve once it clumps.
          • Matcha cake is done baking when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Look for a raised center and a golden brown color.
          • Wait until it completely cools before slicing. This helps get smooth, even layers without tearing.
          • The best way to slice layers is to use a cake knife or any long, thin knife with a serrated edge. You can also use a cake leveler for even slices.

          Green Canarino - sorate

          Green Canarino

          July 06, 2022

Canarino is an ancient Italian remedy that helps digestion.
It helps if you feel sick or bloated, if you have a headache or just in case of slight indigestion.
          Lemon Canarino Green Tea

"Canarino" in Italian literally means canary, but don't worry, we are not going to bake sweet Tweety in the oven :) This is just the name Italians use for a herbal tea everyone makes at home when they had far too much food and want to help their digestion. This is one of many "nonna's remedies", i rimedi della nonna, and require just a good lemon and some bay leaves.

Adding Green Tea to this beverage enhances the natural property of the lemon zest and the bay leaves, giving a boost of antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and vitamins.

          Ingredients per person:

          • Green Tea (3gr)
          • 1 Lemon (zest only)
          • 2 Bay Leaves

          How to prepare:

          1. Wash your lemon
          2. Boil water on the stovetop
          3. Peel lemon zest avoiding the pith (the white part)
          4. Place the peel on the water along with 3 bay leaves
          5. Let it steep for 5 minutes or more, until the water turns to a bright yellow color - hence the name.
          6. Add Green Tea leaves and steep for 45 seconds
          7. Strain and Enjoy!

          When to drink?

          • Mornings to boost your energy
          • After meals to help digestion
          • If you have a cold or fever (rich in Vitamin C)
          • Any other time!
